Hemingway once said:
All you have to do is write one true sentence. Write the truest sentence that you know.
Here goes:
“I wake up each morning and follow the pattern of good habits I’ve established so that I can fill the in-between times with meaningful work that might one day accumulate to be meaningful to others.”
Some days, I wake with a burning desire to accomplish a specific task that I believe will make a powerful difference in our trajectory as a family.
Other days, the fear of disappointing my family is the most powerful motivating emotion, and that brings clarity to the “What am I going to do today” question by fixing my gaze on the hope or expectation of a person I love.
But most days, I wake up uncertain of what the day will hold. I do stick to my daily habits that serve me well and then I seek direction throughout the day, in prayer, in reading Scripture, in contemplation on my morning walk, or in a simple Google search.
A direction for that day may arise that I didn’t anticipate beforehand.
Where is God leading me today?
