  • Psalm 4

    For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of David.

    Answer me when I call to you,
    O my righteous God.
    Give me relief from my distress;
    be merciful to me and hear my prayer.

    How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame?
    How long will you love delusions and seek false gods?
    Selah

    Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself;
    the LORD will hear when I call to him.

    In your anger do not sin;
    when you are on your beds,
    search your hearts and be silent.
    Selah

    Offer right sacrifices
    and trust in the LORD.

    Many are asking, “Who can show us any good?”
    Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD.

    You have filled my heart with greater joy
    than when their grain and new wine abound.

    I will lie down and sleep in peace,
    for you alone, O LORD,
    make me dwell in safety.

  • Psalm 3

    A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom.

    1 O LORD, how many are my foes!
    How many rise up against me!

    2 Many are saying of me,
    “God will not deliver him.”
    Selah

    3 But you are a shield around me, O LORD;
    you bestow glory on me and lift up my head.

    4 To the LORD I cry aloud,
    and he answers me from his holy hill.
    Selah

    5 I lie down and sleep;
    I wake again, because the LORD sustains me.

    6 I will not fear the tens of thousands
    drawn up against me on every side.

    7 Arise, O LORD!
    Deliver me, O my God!
    Strike all my enemies on the jaw;
    break the teeth of the wicked.

    8 From the LORD comes deliverance.
    May your blessing be on your people.
    Selah

  • Psalm 2

    Psalm 2

    1 Why do the nations conspire
    and the peoples plot in vain?

    2 The kings of the earth take their stand
    and the rulers gather together
    against the LORD
    and against his Anointed One.

    3 “Let us break their chains,” they say,
    “and throw off their fetters.”

    4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
    the Lord scoffs at them.

    5 Then he rebukes them in his anger
    and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,

    6 “I have installed my King
    on Zion, my holy hill.”

    7 I will proclaim the decree of the LORD :
    He said to me, “You are my Son;
    today I have become your Father.

    8 Ask of me,
    and I will make the nations your inheritance,
    the ends of the earth your possession.

    9 You will rule them with an iron scepter;
    you will dash them to pieces like pottery.”

    10 Therefore, you kings, be wise;
    be warned, you rulers of the earth.

    11 Serve the LORD with fear
    and rejoice with trembling.

    12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry
    and you be destroyed in your way,
    for his wrath can flare up in a moment.
    Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

  • Psalm 1

    Psalm 1

    1 Blessed is the man
    who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
    or stand in the way of sinners
    or sit in the seat of mockers.

    2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
    and on his law he meditates day and night.

    3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
    which yields its fruit in season
    and whose leaf does not wither.
    Whatever he does prospers.

    4 Not so the wicked!
    They are like chaff
    that the wind blows away.

    5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
    nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

    6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous,
    but the way of the wicked will perish.

    (New International Version)

  • Proverbs 2:1-6

    1 My son, if you accept my words
    and store up my commands within you,

    What is he saying here? Accept his words. Hear them, accept them as true. Store his commands within. Own them. Accept them. Renew your mind. Absorb and become.

    2 turning your ear to wisdom
    and applying your heart to understanding,

    Turning your ear to wisdom implies it is not already turned. Applying your heart implies effort. Ever hear a parent, teacher, or mentor tell you to apply yourself? This is what they mean. It’s not enough to hear wisdom. Earnestly pursue understanding it with your heart.

    3 and if you call out for insight
    and cry aloud for understanding,

    4 and if you look for it as for silver
    and search for it as for hidden treasure,

    5 then you will understand the fear of the LORD
    and find the knowledge of God.

    6 For the LORD gives wisdom,
    and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

  • Revelatory Giftings and Callings

    Many people do not understand revelatory giftings and callings. In fact, the majority would mock a person claiming to have a revelatory calling. Not for any good reason, mind you. But mostly because we fear what we do not understand. And we fear what we cannot control.

    Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”

    2/3 of the Bible involves revelatory giftings, callings, or events. God speaks to men, angels appear to men, burning bushes that speak, dreams of destiny, dreams of world events, God speaking to men, visions, prophecies, more dreams, more prophecies, talking donkies, more of God speaking to men, armies of angels, more angels, more dreams, more visions, more prophecies, knowing the impossible, etc. It goes on and on.

    Amazing, how some Christians can read a Bible full of revelatory gifted people and God speaking to men and people experiencing divine revelation, and yet they have chosen to believe that all manners of divine revelation ceased when the last apostle died.

    I am writing to the wrong audience. I realize that. If you are reading this, there’s an 80% chance it’s because we’re friends on Twitter. And if so, you probably have no idea what I’m talking about. I get that. Good thing this is my blog and I don’t have to play by any rules.

    If, however, you’d like to read more about revelatory giftings and callings, I recommend the following books:

    Jack Deere, Surprised By the Voice of God
    Gary Wiens, Come to Papa
    R Loren Sandford, Understanding Prophetic People
    Jim Goll, The Seer

    These are three books written by men who strongly adhere to the Bible as the foundation and standard by which all revelatory messages/insights should be measured against. Read those books in that order, as that will probably help you to understand the flow of information.

  • The Word “Atheist” Really Irks Me

    Every time someone tells me he or she is an atheist, I feel a slight blow to my heart, as though I had just been insulted deeply. The word itself even sounds harsh to me. I do NOT mean to offend anyone, here. I’m just sharing my thoughts.

  • Actively Seeking the Will of God

    Continuing on the theme of the last post, all followers of Christ want to know God’s will. Easy to want, not so easy to find. Or is it?

    As mentioned previously, many believers have learned that the only way to not miss the will of the Lord is to sit and wait on Him until He speaks. There is some merit to this way of thinking, but I tend to think this method works best for those who have been commanded to wait.

  • Waiting on God vs. Laziness

    I know many people doing very little in life. They’re “waiting on God” for direction. Well, okay. If God tells you to wait, wait. If you know in your heart that waiting is being obedient to the season God has placed you, so be it. But I speak from experience when I recommend you examine yourself VERY closely before you spend too much time waiting.

  • When Promised Promotion is Postponed

    I heard an excellent explanation once about prophetic words of knowledge and encouragement and revelation in general. When God speaks to us, he builds faith in our hearts. It is our responsibility to hold onto that revelation and to talk to him about it. Usually, God gives us a heads up because we need it to stay the course.
