During Sunday’s teaching, Dr. Jack Deere shared this passage as one of the prayers he prays to prevent himself from speaking judgments and criticisms against people:
Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD;
keep watch over the door of my lips.– Psalm 141:3
Holy Spirit will warn you when you’re about to speak a judgment if you ask Him to. I prayed this prayer yesterday and today because it’s deeply important to avoid speaking these things with our mouths. We don’t want to reap the judgments we speak, yet God promises in His Word that we will. So our best bet is to ask Holy Spirit to help us before it happens.
