• A Paradigm Shift in the Hand…

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

We all know this one. Basically, this means that what you actually have is worth more than what you could have. You can miss a lot of REAL life while you hold out for a possibility. So let’s tweak that cliché a bit:

“It’s better to realize potential than to talk about it.”

Applying to the Body of Christ

For the past 15 years, I’ve heard prophetic voices both local and national declare that a paradigm shift is coming to the Body of Christ. Call it the next great revival. Call it the end of the age. But the message is vague. Something new is coming! You won’t have to stay unsatisfied forever!

That was great to hear the first five times. After that, not so much.

It’s one thing to recognize a radical shift is coming. Actually accepting the radical shift is another matter entirely. When we’re dealing with concepts, it’s easy to look forward to the new… to the “not yet.” But when the opportunity for change comes, it’s uncomfortable. It’s strange. It’s not familiar. It’s even scary.

Are we avoiding God’s paradigm shift because it doesn’t look like we wanted?

That is the question. What if the shift is already upon us? What if it’s staring us in the face and we dismiss it because it would disrupt the order of things? Surely WE wouldn’t do that. OTHER PEOPLE might, but not us. We’re balancing on the cutting edge, ready to dive into the things of God.

I mean, it’s not like church people in the year A.D. 30 had any problems accepting the paradigm shift God brought to them.
